Blog sisters, blog!

I've started my own little grassroots movement. I've got at least two friends, working on 2 more, started on blogging. In turn, they're "passing it on". My good friend desertflower12 started her blog and is encouraging others. Even though she's part of the "Sunday Bitching Brigade" that meets at my house weekly, her blog differs from mine. I'll mainly be writing about Saudi Family life in an effort to bridge the cultural gap. Although an American, she's taken the time to ask several Saudi friends and coworkers their opinions to provide plural views on subjects in the country we live in. Her approach is to confront misconceptions head on because, not everything is bad here, by the way!

I strongly urge my Saudi sisters to start blogs. How else can people know about us. We are intelligent humans and many of us have excellent educations and careers. The outside world doesn't know this. This is viewed as a 'closed' country and 'mysterious'. The world thinks we're all barefoot, pregnant, and beat daily by our husbands. Even if you are one of these misfortunate woman, you can blog too! If you can write in English, BLOG IT. I know you may be shy to make grammar mistakes or a faux pas, but its OK. Everyone will understand it's not your native language. I'd be happy to help anyone with language problems, just ask me to proofread for you (no novels please though, don't have time!). Be confident and always...

Tell it like it is, Sistas!

Hi New to blogs:) Yours is a HOOT!! I can identify with your humor and cynicism.I'm a Canadian who's been in Riyadh 20 months and think I'm losing it at times from boredom. Hoping Islam will settle some of the unrest but not suppress all of my positive attributes:)
