Hangin at the farm

Eat your hearts out Najdis and Hijazis. Y'all have your fancy shmancy buildings and your glittery cities. You got your shopping malls and your restaurants. But how often do you get to see mother nature at her finest? We may be in Podunk, but we have miles and miles of green stuff. Here's how Hassawis spend there time:

We hung out the whole night and left at dawn. There was dancing, singing, laughing, swimming, and eating greasy lamb on top of rice. We aren't lucky enough to own a farm, this one was a rental, but we're gonna buy one Inshallah. These farms are what holds me back from running like a bat out of hell to a "big city". This is quality of life.

Love the green....escape from dust. What's up with the pool? Is it outdoors?

This particular pool is indoors but there are dozens upon dozens of farms and 'istirahas' to choose from in every price range in Al-Hassa.

Assalaamu alaikum,

No women have ever gone swimming in any of those pools, have they? Because I'm sure that BBC reporter was the first woman to swim in Saudi. ;)

DesertFlower- next time you'll be able to come too inshallah.

sf- I heard Al-Ain (an oasis town too) is really nice. I'm planning to go to Emirates in a few weeks and plan to check it out Inshallah.

Ann- little did that reporter know but there's a special chemical put in the water of ALL Saudi swimming pool which turns bright fluorescent purple if anyone with estrogen enters the water thus forcing them to exit embarrassed from the pool. Kinda like that chemical that alerts swimmers when someone's peed in public pools in the west:)

Yes it has be come a sickness...If it has sunflowers I feel compeled to buy it. It wasn't this bad until we moved to Saudi.

I don't know just something about the flower makes me feel happy.

It is kinda funny though most people tell me when they think of or see a sunflower they think of me. :)

Dear Daisy
I love the farms also. The family has many, and my children love going there. The boys go to one uncles farm for swimming and "mindy"rice, and the girls go to the other uncles for tennis, swimming and to spend the night laughing with their cousins and aunties.
